so last night was a first

Edward and gang are back. Their midnight return was a lovely affair. The Muse and her friend Katie, who's weekend visit to DC happened to coincide with the New Moon premiere, were fully present to welcome them with the masses. The Muse has never been to a midnight premiere before, but she and her 13 yr. old self thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

Here are the highlights:

1. The twilight fans (twi-hards) are r.i.d.i.c.u.l.o.u.s. Not much needs to be said on this- you've seen the news and heard the madness. But they are not lying. It's a new brand of crazy....that is divinely entertaining. While waiting in line, Katie and I were sitting in front of some 14 yr. old twi-hards who were watching Twilight #1 on their hot pink lap top while simultaneously making their Team Edward/Team Jacob t-shirts.

We had fun with that.

2. We ran into these crazies while I was stocking up on coffee at Starbucks.

Of course Kate couldn't pass up a conversation with wannabe vampires. Actually, Katie couldn't pass up conversation with a lot of people last night.

3. The movie was awesome. A tad cheesy at moments, but that only adds to it's flavor. And kuddos to Taylor Lautner for gettin' all beefy and lookin' all good. He was fun to watch.

4. Kristen Stewart gets on my nerves and will forever continue to do so.

5. All in all, a pretty good time. The only downside was the 4 am bedtime. The story goes like this: Katie and Maggie got in line 2 hours early for a midnight showing of New Moon. Only Maggie actually bought tickets for the 12:30 showing of New Moon. Then they are finally admitted in, only to pick the theatre with the 1:00 showing of New Moon.

FML

But! Maggie stayed awake for the whole movie. Mission accomplished.
