heartbreaker

Memory: 12 years old. Slumber party #73. Trying to stay awake for the 4th movie of the night (I never was very good at it). Watching 16 Candles for the first time. Sitting there wondering who was this genius of a man, John Hughes, and where did he get so funny.

And then life continues and his name keeps appearing: Christmas Vacation, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Pretty in Pink, Weird Science, Home Alone. The list of classics is very long. And very good. All written or directed or both by: John Hughes.

He died of a heart attack today at the age of 59. Definetly too early. I wasn't overly close with John nor do I know that much about his life. But I'll bet he was a great person. And I'm certain the world of movies will miss the loss.
